And what a great time we had! Trenten was our exclusive entertainment the entire way out to the lake, he talked about non-stop, when he wasn't having us read books or work on puzzles and listening to music, "Turn it up Papa!" "It's hot back here!" "Ashley, read the book, Mama, read the book, Mommy, read the book." He even asked Papa to read the book for him. Ash slept and kept Trenten entertained and checked in with her mom to make sure no baby had been born back at home. We made pretty good time and go to the lake around 4:00 on Friday afternoon and peeled off to the beach right away with Trenten, Ashley, Mom, and myself (Dad stayed back to chat with Jerry at the cabins) because it was beautiful out! We got to play at the beach (Mommy had to run back to the cabin for the camera because we had the entire beach to ourself and I decided I should be getting some pictures!)... so we had a great time playing in the water and in the sand - Trenten made a castle for Ashley and Mama and then jumped all over them (the castles that is), and then Grandma and Ashley lost our beach ball! In their defense, it was a really strong current out, and the wind just kept pushing it farther and farther out of their reach... Trenten yelled "Bye" to the ball!
So then that night, we went to eat at Murdor's (sp?), can't exactly remember the name, but it was really, really good food, and it is so pretty, this restaurant right on the river and we got to sit outside for awhile, Trenten really enjoyed that and this year, Jerry and Jeff joined us for dinner. Very nice company. So then we went back to the cabin and Trenten and I went to bed (by the time he fell asleep in the room, I was almost out too), and Grandma, Grandpa and Ashley went for a walk all the way down to the marina! You go guys! =)
So the next day Papa had to go to meetings and Trenten slept until 8:30 and it was awesome! And then once we (Trent, Ash, Mom, and I) were all up, we went into Yankton and we putzed around, did some shopping, ate some pizza and Trenten played in Play Place and then we came back to the cabins and got ready to go swimming and it started to rain and that was not going to happen (it had been raining on and off all day long, so we knew this was a possiblity, it was kind of a crummy day)... so instead we just got ready for the cookoff that night, and it was a great cookoff, as usual. The steaks were awesome! Yum! And Trenten had a good time playing with the kids that came for the cookout, and Ashley had fun with the young girls that came too... Everyone was having a good time, great food, smores and fun people, what more to ask for, and it stopped raining long enough for us to all have this outside. Trenten was trying to keep his eyes pried open at about 8:30, he had had such a BIG day, but it was time for the little man to go to bed. We weren't too far behind, about 10:30 I was ready to hit the hay, the lake wears me out =)
So the next morning, it was time to go home to Daddy, and man were we ready to see him when we finally pulled in that afternoon, and he was ready to see us, and he had a surprise for us, tricky Daddy! =) I'll tell you all about the surprise in my next blog entry. Later tators!
